Purple Silk Stone Mirror

The jellyfish: once its bell has been pickled and processed, it turns into thin, translucent sheets that look like an ancient mirror ground from stone, which is why the ancients called it the "stone mirror". The Tang-dynasty Supplement to the Materia Medica records the jellyfish thus: "Scalded and served with ginger and vinegar, it is an everyday dish for the people of the sea."

Weiyang City is home to many kinds of jellyfish, most of them venomous. Only this Purple Silk Stone Mirror, for all its vivid colors, is fresh, crisp and tender, and it has become a delicacy at Dustforget Manor that diners can hardly tear themselves away from.
