Curled Shell

The Tang-dynasty Curiosities in the Southern Lands describes the Curled Shell thus: "Its shell bears spiral markings, tightly coiled like a pagoda; the largest are no bigger than a little finger, the smallest no larger than a grain of millet."

Because of its small size, the Curled Shell is rarely eaten. More often, it is gathered for Shell Fragrance, first boiled in yellow wine to remove its slime, then simmered with various aromatics.
