Octopus

"The Octopus stands like a skirted pillar, and in combat presents itself as a thing most strange." The Octopus first appears in A Record of Strange Things in Linhai: "resembling a plump cuttlefish, its flesh is sweet and delicious." Some have held that its eyes are set upon its flanks, while others believe it to be the "Helo Fish" spoken of in the Classic of Mountains and Seas. Yet whatever the truth may be, the Octopus has long graced the tables of coastal fishermen by virtue of its exquisite savor.
