Mackerel

Also known as the Majia, it bears silver skin and a swallow-fork tail, the largest growing to the size of an infant. It dwells year-round in the deep, and can only be caught when it makes its journey back to shore in spring and summer. Cured with coarse salt or smoked over firewood, it keeps for a long while.
