Flounder

Erya records: "In the east there is a fish. It cannot move unless paired with another of its kind, and is called Flounder." Since ancient times, Flounder has lain flat upon the sand, its eyes and mouth turned to one side, leading people to believe it could only move side by side with a companion. In time, paired together with the Jian bird that flies wing to wing, the two gave rise to the saying "devoted bird and fish," a byword for deep and enduring love.
